neutral, minimal nursery tour
i prefer “baby room” over “nursery” but for the sake of propriety, i will refer to Fostie’s room as a a nursery ;)
we had so much fun creating this special space to welcome our sunshine girl into. has she slept a wink in her crib? nope, lol. but we hang out, do diaper changes, & play time in the crib, & so on in here. out of all the rooms in this house, i am most sad to leave this one!
the room is pretty dang small, but the perfect size for a nursery IMO. we wanted to make the most of the space so we kept it pretty organized & minimal. kyle & his dad shiplapped the entireeee room, including the ceiling, with prefab ship lap boards out of pine. we also ripped out the carpet & installed (cheap pine) wood floors & then painted them the same color as the rest of the room - Behr Ultra Pure White in the outdoor/patio version. i love this paint color because it feels like a true white — very bright, not too warm or cool! i wouldn’t recommend this floor approach for a high traffic area but for a small, low-traffic room it was perfect!
here are some before shots & in-process shots so you can see how much of a transformation it was!
we removed the closet doors & made it open, so that it could double as a changing table. i’m not a huge fan of the peanut looking changing mats so i decided to use a padded one from Gathre sitting on top of the dresser & it’s worked perfectly! all you moms know you only use a changing table 20% of the time anyways haha. the floor, couch, or car will do ;) we made the clothes rod out of a dowel rod + leather pieces we had on hand.
