all the greenhaus paint colors

one of the questions i get asked the most on instagram is “what’s your favorite white paint color?”

after a few rounds of big mistakes (like painting an entire room white & realizing the shade was too blue)…i’ve landed on my tried & trues. i’ve spent hours researching to find the perfect paint colors for every wall in our current home, i can truly say i love them all. so whether you’re moving or just sprucing up a room, hopefully this helps you pick the perfect neutral shade for your home!

i don’t know much about other paint colors, but white paint? i’m well versed since it’s all i use lol one thing to know about white paint (& any color really) is that the lighting in your room can alter the appearance of the color GREATLY. a paint color in my living room will not look exactly the same in yours. so i recommend two things: (1) get a sample & do a large test patch on your walls before committing full throttle (2) google (or search pinterest for) the name of the paint color you want to use & check out photos of what it looks like in other people’s spaces with variable lighting! both of these things will help you get a very clear idea of what the color will look like in YOUR space!

Simply White by Benjamin Moore

this is my go-to simple, neutral white! the warm undertones eliminate any chance of stark white! our main living spaces + hallways are all painted this color. it can have slight yellow undertones, especially if you color match the shade - so i’d recommend getting it straight from benjamin moore for the purest color.

(hope the crooked lamp shade doesn’t bother you as much as it does me)

Bone White by Benjamin Moore

we used bone white for our kitchen cabinets! they were a dark brown color so we hired professionals to sand, prime & paint them.

it’s a creamy beige color with a hint of warmth that contrasts perfectly against our more pure-white walls! also it looks lovely with our brass faucet + hardware.

Old White Limewash by Color Atelier

limewash paint is a labor of love, but is absolutely gorgeous! it has more of a textured finish, similar to the look of plaster. we layered Old White over Natural.

i chose it for our kitchen & dining nook, because i wanted these areas of the house to have more dimension! i will say — the dimension is NOT as pronounced in white (for instance, photos don’t capture the limewash magic well at all - yet in person it’s more noticeable) so i would recommend going a shade darker than we did such as Old White layered over Chevre or Plateau.

their website has examples of what the colors look like in many different rooms! if you do order from them, be sure to grab some lime wash paint brushes as well. their customer service is amazing so call them with any questions you have :)

Whipped by Clare Paint

i just recently discovered clare paint, & i’m obsessed! it’s a more nontoxic paint brand - zero VOC, greenguard gold certified, & very low odor!

Whipped is the *perfect* creamy white; ideal for our cloud-like bedroom vibe. it’s bright & delicate.

we did one coat of Primer followed by one coat of Whipped! add on their painting supplies to your order while you’re at it because the roller is AMAZING & the set is affordable too.

Honorable Mention:

Behr Ultra Pure White

this is the color we used in our last home - kitchen, baby room & my office!

Ultra Pure White is Behr’s base white - meaning any other white they make starts with this base! it is a superrrr pure white. in my experience, if the room is VERY well lit (especially with south facing windows) it looks pure as can be. however - it does tend to pull a tiny bit warm or cool if the room is not as well lit.

overall - i adore this paint color. this is the purest, brightest, crispest white i have ever found! i almost painted our current house in it but opted for a warmer option just to switch things up! it’s also a bit cheaper than all the other brands mentioned above so that’s something to consider.

if you want to learn more about undertones & how to choose the “whitest” white, this is a great article!

although it’s common to color match whites across brands (example: benjamin moore simply white but in Behr from home depot) i do NOT recommend it. home depot or lowe’s will tell you they can do it, but the colors can be very very off from the original to the color-matched version! sometimes it works okay for darker colors, but with white, stick with a color that belongs to the paint line you plan to use! additionally, my favorite finish is flat & sometimessss eggshell. shiny paint is a no go for me personally!

hope this inspires you to find the perfect white for your own home :) i firmly believe a fresh coat of white paint can do wonders for any room! now, get to paintingggg.
